Choosing devices, software and accessories for your workshop

A well-planned workshop setup involves more than choosing a device. The operations you will perform, the software you will use and the required connection equipment are planned together.

Start with your application profile

List the vehicles and requests you handle most often: transponder cloning, remote operations, OBD key pairing or EEPROM/MCU work. Compare devices by the operations they support and under what conditions, rather than by feature count alone.

Match package contents to the application

A feature listed on a product page may require an additional software package, cable or adapter. Before purchasing, specify your target applications and clarify which items the quotation includes. This helps avoid work being delayed by missing connection equipment after the device arrives.

Updates and technical resources

IEA publishes software files, application lists and accessories in separate sections on its product pages. Bulletins help track applications added during specific periods. An archived bulletin describes its publication period and should not replace the current coverage list.

After setup, check the device version, required accessories and the guides you will use together. When requesting help with a new application, providing the product model, software version and vehicle details helps the team assess your request.
